This destination will take you through the highest lock in France (16,38m) situated in Réchicourt. This example of modern canal engineering was completed in 1969 to replace 17 locks along the Marne-Rhine Canal. The inclined plane lifts boats 150 feet (45 meters) in just 20 minutes. Below the lift, the Marne-Rhine travels nearly three kilometres underground through the Arzviller and Niderviller tunnels.

Lutzelbourg, arguably the most beautiful canal-side village in this part of France, provides an interesting stop with its famous glass and crystal workshops which have been there since the 17th century. Arriving in Saverne is another delight with its ducal palace. Cruising the Canal de la Sarre you pass mainly through the park and woodlands of the Lorraine Regional Park.

The angler’s paradise and beaches of Gondrexange, Rhodes and Mittersheim offer wonderful swimming facilities as well as a variety of water sports.

A charming destination with beautiful medieval fortified towns and citadels set in a landscape of rolling hills surrounding your cruising route. Visit the lake at Parroy where an observatory allows you to admire the varied flora and fauna of the area.
See the 15th century Basilica at St. Nicolas de Port , the French Museum of the Brewery, the Museum of Cinema and Photography and the park where storks are being re-introduced to the area.
Nancy offers a wide range of facilities making it a very enjoyable port-of-call.
The Nancy-Saint-Georges Marina is only five minutes from the famous Place Stanislas, considered the most beautiful royal square in Europe. On the south side of the square stands the imposing Hotel de Ville. Meander through the charming streets visiting the Fine Arts Museum and the Nancy Opera House.
Liverdun, an alluring 12th century hilltop village located on a rocky outcrop with ancient fortifications and a drawbridge on a magnificent, wide, heavily wooded stretch of the Moselle River.
Toul, a Gothic town fortified by Vauban, set between vineyards and crystal workshops, enjoys fine views over the river Moselle. Worth seeing is the museum of Art and History and the magnificent St. Etienne Cathedral with its intricately detailed façade, built between the 13th and 16th centuries. Your cruise takes you through the Valley de Cayenne and offers you a chance to admire the incredible defense walls and moats laid out by Vauban.
